First of all, I am new to the whole email server thing. I am using a Linux box running OpenSuse 10.2 as my webserver and my experience is more with Apache and MySQL.
I tried setting up a HTML form and using cgi to parse and mail the info. I installed and configured Postfix as best I could using my ISPs smtp server info to send the mail. (It's my understanding that most ISPs won't accept mail from a private IP because of the whole spamming problem).
I attempted submitting a couple of "test" forms to see if the mail functionality was working. After submitting like 4 or 5 forms I checked the inbox of the address I specified in the cgi file and never received anything.
Then, last night, we tripped a circuit breaker and my Linux box went down. After restarting it, I checked my email before going to bed and VOILA! There were 5 emails in my inbox from that form I filled out a few days before.
My question is, why did these get held in queue for several days and only get sent when Postfix restarted (I'm assuming that's what happened).
Also, what can I do to have Postfix send these as soon as they come in?
Thanks in advance for your help!
