Hi,
I am setting up an email server and would like some help putting the bits together.
Is this a good place to ask? There doesn't seem to be much activity here. Perhaps there is a better place.
The other places I've found seem to be specific to specific bits of the server - ie postfix, fetchmail, courier-imap, etc. I've not found a place that covers the whole lot together.
Let me know.
Thanks.

What "bits" do you intend to use?
(the lists are not exhaustive)
1. OS - Linux, *BSD, Windows?
2. Users - real or virtual?
3. Mailstorage - Mbox, maildir, other?
4. MTA - sendmail, qmail, postfix, exim?
5. IMAP - UWimap, courier, cyrus, dovecot?
6, Database - None, MySql, Postgres?
7. MDA - None, maildrop?
8. Frontend - Web, Imap client, POP3 client?
9. Web Frontend - SquirrelMail, Other?
10. Webserver - Apache 1, Apache 2, Other?
... the choices are almost endless. Ask yourself -
What are you going to use the server for? e.g. small family mail server as part of a home network, or business mail server to support perhaps 1000+ staff?
What sort of budget do you have?
Have fun!
